One of the positives to be taken from Sunday’s 39-28 loss to the Atlanta Falcons is that the Dallas Cowboys may be starting to figure out how to best use Lance Dunbar.
Since the arrival of Scott Linehan, last year, the Cowboys have been moving toward using Dunbar primarily as a pass-catching running back, a role similar to that of Reggie Bush when he was playing under Linehan in Detroit.
In 2014 Dunbar finished with 18 catches for 217 yards, while running it just 29 times for a total of 99 yards.
This year, Dunbar just has two carries for 13 yards. But he has 21 catches for 215 yards, including a 10-catch, 100-yard performance against the Falcons on Sunday.
“It’s fun to be a bigger part of the offense, but I’m all about winning,” Dunbar said, per ESPN Dallas. “The stats don’t mean much when you don’t win.”
