Some Irving charities got a helping hand Monday.
As part of its sponsorship to implode Texas Stadium, Kraft Foods agreed to send truckloads of food to four Irving charities. It was a month later than expected, but on Monday morning, $100,000 worth of items arrived.
The donation was divided among four charities: The Salvation Army, The Hope Center, Baptist Benevolent Ministries and Irving Cares.
Teddie Story, executive director of Irving Cares, says the 22-month supply could not have come at a better time.
"Donations always go down in the summer, while demand goes up, so that's a recipe for disaster," said Story.
In addition to the food donation, Kraft paid the city $75,000 for the sponsorship -- money that was also divided among the charities in amounts ranging from $5,000 to $20,000.
