Dez Bryant has let it be known plenty of times this year: Don't test his loyalty.

Of course, those comments were all targeted toward the Cowboys' negotiations with he and his agents on a new long-term deal, and possibly the idea he could be tagged with the Cowboys' franchise tag -- an average of the top wide receiver contracts in football.

On Tuesday, Cowboys owner/GM Jerry Jones said on 105.3 FM that the franchise tag is becoming more likely for the star receiver, who leads the NFL with 14 touchdown receptions this season.

"No, we have the franchise -- for sure. Not at all," Jones said when asked if he feared losing Bryant in free agency. "You're talking about Dez? No, we have the franchise alternative -- which I thought everybody was aware of."

Jones is right. Unless he's crazy and lets Bryant go elsewhere -- and he's been linked to Oakland in recent days -- there is no way Bryant will be playing in another uniform next year, long-term deal or not.

Jones said the two sides have to compromise and meet in the middle, which they haven't been able to do yet and haven't gotten any closer since Bryant signed with Jay Z's Roc Nation agency.

"The key thing is, in agreements -- and these are agreements -- to be trite, two have to agree," Jones said in the interview. "We've just got to come to an agreement there."
