Sidelined for 4-6 weeks with a high ankle sprain, rookie receiver Dez Bryant will turn his attention to the mental aspect of the game, because, well, he kind of has to. Bryant spent Sunday’s practice with receivers coach Ray Sherman, discussing routes and his responsibilities on each play.
"That's what we have to do because he's not going to be on the field," Sherman said, per the Dallas Morning News. "He'll be in all of the meetings and he'll be out on the field watching."
Obviously, this is an unfortunate turn for Bryant and Dallas. No one around Valley Ranch (unless there are some Redskins officials lurking in the bushes) wants to see Bryant on the shelf before his rookie campaign even begins.
This is particularly true of Bryant himself, who couldn’t help but express some frustration over the matter this weekend.
"He was frustrated because he wants to play in the preseason games," Sherman said. "That's what he was looking forward to, but he's good now."
