ESPN's Mel Kiper: Cowboys Could Target Syracuse G Justin Pugh

Dallas will select 18th overall in the NFL Draft later this month

In need of an upgrade to the interior of the offensive line, the Dallas Cowboys would probably love to have either North Carolina guard Jonathan Cooper or Alabama guard Chance Warmack. But according to ESPN Draft expert Mel Kiper, there’s a pretty good chance neither of them will be on the board when Dallas goes on the clock at No. 18.

“I think Cooper could go in the top 10, Warmack could go in the top 11," Kiper said, per the Dallas Morning News. “Out of Warmack or Cooper I think it would be more Warmack. That’s debatable, to see them drop all the way down to 18.”

Kiper mentioned Texas safety Kenny Vaccaro in discussing where Dallas might go if Warmack and Cooper are selected before their turn, and added that the team could get a solid guard in the second round, in Syracuse guard Justin Pugh.

“If you don’t get Warmack or Cooper, Justin Pugh from Syracuse, who was a left tackle, can be a guard, can be a center,” Kiper said. “They have to improve the interior of the offensive line and Pugh would be a very nice addition at that point.”
