I admit I’ve been more than a little negative on this here blog lately. Hard not to. Seems every time I turn on the Rangers there’s another loss, another injury, another reminder that it’s the worst season since 2007.
But last night I was determined to be positive. After all, the Houston Astros were in town and surely …
Oops.
When you see a left fielder named Dan Robertson chasing a foul ball from a pitch thrown by Miles Mikolas in a season-high, six-run second inning by the worst team in baseball, well it’s difficult to view the glass as anything but empty, much less half-full.
But despite the 12-7 loss that shoved the Ranger within only two games of the AL West cellar, I squinted extra hard to find five positives:
*The two hot women sitting in the first row behind home plate. I happen to know Amberleigh Hartman (the blonde) and Lauren Ramos (the brunette), and they are as beautiful on the inside. Plus, they sat through the entire game and – mostly – stayed off their phones. Bravo.
*Adrian Beltre is playing like an All-Star. Two more hits – a double and a homer. When blame is doled out for this forgettable season, he shouldn’t receive even a dollop.

*Rougned Odor had a hit and made a back-to-the-infield running catch that kept Houston’s 2nd inning – believe it or not – from being even more productive.
*Long reliever Scott Baker came on and ate up three innings, at least saving the bullpen for the rest of the series.
*It was only 93 degrees at first pitch. On July 7 the Rangers have yet to play a home game in triple-digit temperature.
So there.
