Yu Doesn’t Want to Pitch in All-Star Game

On the Texas Rangers' current rotation schedule, ace Yu Darvish should be in line to start the Rangers' first-half finale at home against the Los Angeles Angels on July 13 before the league breaks for the All-Star game that following week.

That would mean Darvish wouldn't be available to pitch in the Mid-Summer Classic on July 15 in Minneapolis, but if for some reason the rotation is shuffled and he is available, Darvish said he doesn't want to pitch in the game, anyway, even if it was just for an inning.

Darvish has made the All-Star Game in each of his two big-league seasons, but has yet to pitch in the game. Darvish is 7-4 with a 2.62 ERA in 14 starts this season. He has 118 strikeouts in 96 1-3 innings.

Darvish shook his head "No" several times Thursday when asked if he'd be willing to pitch an inning in the All-Star game if he stays on that schedule, the Associated Press reported. He then said through his translator that he'd go sightseeing while in Minnesota if on the AL squad.

Minneapolis is supposed to be a lovely city in the summer, so you can see where he's going there.
