Cowboys Respond to Sports Illustrated Article

The Dallas Cowboys responded on Wednesday to an article written by Sports Illustrated’s Jim Trotter, in which Cowboys’ owner Jerry Jones is described as making an over the top speech during a meeting between owners and players prior to the lockout, after which he stood up and walked toward the door.

The report, based on an account by an unnamed player, intimates that Jones was trying to intimidate the players with his actions, and incite a sudden walkout among the owners.

Cowboys’ spokesman Rich Dalrymple refuted any such notion via an email, saying that Jones did not walk out of the room, and that there were no ulterior motives behind Jones’ actions late in the talks.

"A lot of people were reading into that story that Jerry walked out of the room and that simply wasn't the case," Dalrymple said, per the Dallas Morning News. "He never left the room, and he wasn't trying to orchestrate anything. I guess the story was that Jerry Jones can become animated when trying to make a point. That's not news to anyone around here."
