Cowboys Stadium is beginning, finally, to live up to its name.
A number of final touches will be put in place this week before the Cowboys welcome the Giants to their new digs for the stadium's first ever regular season pro football game, none of which, however, are relly new.
First, the blue star will be placed at midfield this week, and the Ring of Honor unveiled in its new home.
Tom Landry's bronze statue--which stood dutifully in front of Texas Stadium for eight years--was moved to its new home and installed this morning, reports Tim MacMahon of the Dallas Morning News.
The stadium, which many campaigned, unsuccessfully, to be called Tom Landry Stadium, will have the old ballcoach standing--ever dutifully--at Gate A when fans arrive on Sunday.
Since Jerry's first move as owner was canning the Dallas legend and possible demigod, it seems that many fans don't think the owner can go far enough in enshrining the Hall of Famer. But if Landry were alive today, it's doubtful a nine foot statue or even a stadium bearing his name--both nice touches, to be sure--would be on the top of his wish list. A Cowboys win over the Giants, I think, would do just fine.
