SMU Retires Dandy Don's Jersey

Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Don Meredith has become the sixth football player to have his jersey retired at SMU.

The Mustangs retired Meredith's jersey on Saturday night at halftime of their game against Houston. Meredith was an all-American for SMU in 1958-59 before embarking on an NFL career.

Other SMU players to have their jersey retired are Doak Walker, Eric Dickerson, Forrest Gregg, Raymond Berry and Lamar Hunt, the former AFL founder and Kansas City Chiefs owner.

Only Meredith's jersey, not the number itself, will be retired.
