France World Cup Team Arrives Home

France's World Cup team has arrived home. The squad's chartered plane landed Thursday in the small Bourget airport near Paris. Police guarded the far end of the tarmac to let the players disembark away from journalists and fans.

Les Bleus were eliminated from the first round after a tournament in which they staged a one-day strike, failed to win a match and had forward Nicolas Anelka expelled for insulting the coach.

French media say Thierry Henry flew his in own chartered plane for a meeting he sought with French President Nicolas Sarkozy. Leading French sports daily L'Equipe is calling the soccer team mess "A State Scandal."
