DBU Uses Helicopter to Dry Field Ahead of NCAA Regionals

A massive line of storms soaked the Metroplex overnight

Dallas Baptist University is doing all they can to ensure the field at Horner Ballpark will be ready to go for Friday’s NCAA regional games.

If you’re living in Dallas-Fort Worth, you’re probably aware that a massive line of storms crossed over the Metroplex overnight, soaking the entire area.

DBU, meanwhile, is scheduled to host a pair of games Friday as one of 16 regional hosts for the NCAA baseball tournament.

So they did what any institution that could get their hands on a helicopter would do in this situation: They called on that helicopter to blow dry their outfield.

It wasn’t just the helicopter, of course. They had ground support in the form of a large team of folks with leaf blowers, and even the DBU coaches were out there doing their part.

The action is scheduled to get underway at DBU at 1:30 PM, with a game between the Texas Longhorns and the Oregon Ducks. DBU plays Virginia Commonwealth at 6:30 PM.

Apparently it worked -- the games were underway Friday afternoon.
