Russia's Natalya Antyukh won the gold medal in the women's 400-meter hurdles with a time of 52.70 seconds. Antyukh won in a photo-finish over the United States' Lashinda Demus, who posted a time of 52.77 seconds to earn silver. The Czech Republic's Zuzana Hejnova took the bronze with a time of 53.38 seconds.
