Brittany Murphy and her late hubby Simon Monjack’s deaths were both preventable, an official with the Los Angeles County Coroner’s office said on Wednesday.
"In simple English — they didn't take care of themselves," Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter told The Associated Press. "They didn't seek medical advice from a doctor. Brittany could have survived if she had gone to a hospital and Simon I think could have done the same."
Monjack’s body was discovered May 23 in the same Hollywood home where his wife was found dead five months earlier.

The LA coroner said Wednesday a completed autopsy found community-acquired acute bronchopneumonia to be the British screenwriter’s primary cause of death, E! News reported.
Acute pneumonia was also listed as the lead cause of “Clueless” starlet Murphy’s Dec. 20 death.
Blood tests indicated that Monjack had various medications in his system at his time of death, but "all these drugs … did not contribute to death," Monjack’s autopsy report also concluded, according to E!
Last month, the LA coroner said a preliminary autopsy determined severe anemia was also a factor in Monjack’s death.
Monjack and Murphy were buried side by side at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Los Angeles.
