Ex-Israeli President Sentenced to 7 Years in Prison

Former Israeli President Moshe Katsav was sentenced to seven years in prison for two 1998 rapes and various charges of sexual harassment during his term as president. Katsav served from 2000 until 2007, when he resigned his post after strong pressure from the public. Katsav’s lawyer told the Jerusalem Post that his sentencing was β€œa sad day of mourning,” not a β€œbanner day for democracy."
