Texas Worker Trapped, Killed in Scaffolding Collapse

Officials said a contract worker for Marathon Petroleum Corp. died after scaffolding collapsed at the Port of Texas City and he fell into the water.

The Galveston County Daily News reported that 22-year-old Louis A. Gonzales-Bock of Houston was employed by Louisiana-based Excel Modular Scaffold.

Investigators said Gonzales-Bock was wearing a harness when he was dumped into the water Monday as the equipment collapsed. The Galveston County Sheriff's Office said divers later recovered the body.

Authorities said Gonzales-Bock was among five workers at the site. The other four workers were not hurt.

Federal investigators are trying to determine what caused the collapse.
