Woman Admits to Fatally Shooting Family Member: Grand Prairie Police

A woman is in custody after police say she admitted to fatally shooting a family member Wednesday in Grand Prairie.[[315543001,L]]

Police were dispatched at about 1 p.m. to the 1900 block of Westminster Drive after the woman called to say she shot a family member and would surrender when officers arrived.

She was arrested and transported to the Grand Prairie Police Detention Center facing a murder charge.

Her name and the name of the deceased have not been released.

Police said the investigation is ongoing, and they are working to develop a time line of what led up to the shooting.

An official cause of death will be released by the Dallas County medical examiner.
