A now-former youth minister in West Texas has been sentenced to four years in federal prison for sexually explicit online contact with someone he thought to be a 15-year-old girl.
Prosecutors in Lubbock say 25-year-old Trevor Jacob Fortner of Lubbock was sentenced Friday. He could have received a 10-year prison term after pleading guilty to attempted transfer of obscene material to a minor.
The Lubbock man was a youth minister at Fifth Street Baptist Church in Levelland when he was arrested in May on a charge of attempted enticement of a minor after contacting a Lubbock officer portraying the teen.
Prosecutors say Fortner sent a sexually explicit photo of himself.
Fortner also worked at First Baptist Church in Lubbock.
