A Dallas family is seeking community help in the searcd for a 74-year-old woman, who has been missing for almost a week.
Police said Lillie Sanders walked away from her 90-year-old mother's home in the 1500 block of Ann Arbor Avenue at about 8:30 a.m. Sunday.
Her family is growing more concerned by the hour.
“As the time goes on, I’m still believing and trusting in God that’s he’s going to bring her home safely,” said her daughter Nakita Thomas.
Sanders is diagnosed with bipolar disorder and depression and has not been taking her medicine according to relatives.
Her son Greg Sanders said she is polite and kind, not a threat to anyone.
“If someone walks up to her she’s probably very soft spoken, very calm natured, and she may not know exactly where she’s at,” he said.
Volunteers have been helping already with fliers and searching the South Oak Cliff area where she disappeared.
“We are so extremely grateful for all the efforts, efforts of people we don’t even know,” Thomas said.
Sanders is 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighs about 150 pounds. She has gray hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing a brown shirt, gray pants and black shoes. She was believed to be carrying a black trash bag containing clothing.
Saturday morning, Sanders’ family will again join forces with the Dallas police officers to recruit more volunteers to pass out fliers and expand the search.
“She’s been gone before for maybe a day but we have found her at the park and not for this extent so now we are very worried,” Greg Sanders said.
Police will tell Saturday volunteers how and where the fliers should be distributed and explain what to do if they receive tips on Sanders' whereabouts.
The family is asking volunteers to be at Glendale Park, 1515 E. Ledbetter Drive in Dallas, at 10 a.m. Saturday.
