Two people have been killed after being struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross a busy College Station street Sunday morning.
Police said 20-year-old Brian Gonzalez and 19-year-old Daisy Estrada were struck blocks from Kyle Field, where the Texas A&M football team hours earlier lost to Alabama. They were transported to a hospital where they were pronounced dead.
Authorities said the driver of the vehicle had a green light and was passing through an intersection when the couple was hit. The motorist stopped to assist.
Gonzalez and Estrada were from Conroe. It wasn't clear if they were A&M students.
The area adjacent to the A&M campus is popular for its shops and eateries and has drawn safety concerns as students and others often navigate vehicles.
