Dallas firefighters extinguished a three-alarm fire late Friday at the U.S. Postal Service bulk mail distribution center in North Oak Cliff.

The fire was reported at about 11:41 p.m. at the facility near Interstate 30, between Hampton Road and Westmoreland Road.

Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesman Jason Evans said the fire started on a large conveyor belt, and as the belt continued traveling through the facility, pieces fell from it and started several smaller fires.

All 115 workers safely evacuated the building, however one firefighter was transported to a hospital for treatment of an injury after slipping and falling, the fire department said.

The cause of the fire has been determined to be accidental.

Fire crews worked into the early morning Saturday clearing smoke from the 750,000 square-foot building.

Dallas Network Distribution postal employees are asked to call the following hotline number for an important message: 1-888-363-7462.
