AMBER Alert discontinued for 13-year-old girl out of Houston area

The AMBER Alert was born in 1996 when local media teamed up with local police to develop an early warning system to find abducted children following the abduction and brutal murder of 9-year-old Amber Hagerman, of Arlington.

A Texas AMBER Alert has been discontinued for a 13-year-old girl who was last seen in the Houston area.

According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, the 13-year-old was last seen in Houston at 1 a.m. on Wednesday.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office discontinued the AMBER Alert Thursday morning.
