Texas Man Seeks to Withdraw Plea in Child Sex Case

A Texas man who pleaded guilty to transporting an underage girl to Indiana for sex wants to withdraw the plea.

The San Antonio Express-News reported a new attorney for 31-year-old George Martinez says his client wasn't adequately advised about the prison time he faces. Martinez pleaded guilty in March to the lesser charge after federal authorities said he prostituted the 14-year-old girl between 2012 and 2013.

Authorities said Martinez prostituted the girl online in Texas before taking her to Indiana and having sex with her.

The attorney said Martinez is unhappy with the plea deal that could imprison him for up to 30 years. He said his client was pressured into pleading guilty because of inadequate advice from a public defender.
