Suspect Arrested in Death of Woman Found in Burned Car

Dallas police said they arrested a man in connection with the death of a 20-year-old Fort Worth woman whose body was set on fire to conceal the crime.

Police said they arrested 26-year-old Manuel Rocha Jr. and charged him with murder in the death of Alexus Garcia.

Authorities found Garcia's body in a green Fiat parked in a field near the 2200 block of Royal Lane at about 8 a.m. Saturday. She had been strangled, suffered blunt force trauma to the head and was burned in the car doused in gasoline, according to the Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office.

Garcia texted someone before her body was found saying she was at Rocha's Richardson home and concerned about her safety, according to an arrest warrant.

Security cameras captured Rocha getting into Garcia's Fiat and later running from the scene where Garcia's body was found. Rocha's ID was found inside the Fiat, according to the arrest warrant.
