Southwest Airlines Evacuates Stranded Passengers from Houston Airport

On Sunday night, Dallas-based Southwest Airlines operated five different flights to evacuate people stranded in Houston.

The planes took off from William P. Hobby Airport, which remains closed. However the airport was able to clear one of the runways, giving the pilots room to take off.

Southwest had to receive special permission for the flights.

486 people in total were flown from Houston to Dallas, including southwest customers and employees.
