Seven Local Schools Earn Blue Ribbons

Seven schools in North Texas Tuesday achieved blue ribbon status.

They are winners of the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program, a coveted award from the U.S. Department of Education that affirms their hard work in the classroom.

Here are the schools earning bragging rights Tuesday:

Cross Timbers Elementary School in the Azle ISD;

Rosemeade Elementary School in the Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD;

George Bannerman Dealy International Academy, George Bannerman Dealy Montessori Vanguard and the School of Health Professions at Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center in the Dallas ISD;

Young Women's Leadership Academy in the Fort Worth ISD;

and, Hillside Academy for Excellence in the Garland ISD.

The Blue Ribbon ceremony is this afternoon in Washington, D.C.

In all, 26 public schools in Texas will be recognized as exemplary high-performing schools.
