A North Texas woman has claimed a Powerball prize worth $1 million, lottery officials announced Wednesday.
Cheryl Spann, of Ponder, won the second-tier Powerball prize after buying a winning ticket at Bev's, located at 1003 N. Farm to Market 156, in Ponder.
Spann's ticket matched all five white ball numbers (20-24-26-35-49) but not the Powerball number (19).
Spann requested minimal publicity following her win.
Multi-state Powerball jackpots start at $40 million and roll until the jackpot has been won. Drawings are held each Wednesday and Saturday.
The estimated jackpot for Wednesday's drawing is $700 million -- or $443.3 million in cash. That's the second largest Powerball jackpot on record and the third largest jackpot of any U.S. lottery game in history.
