Man Killed While Demolishing Building

The incident happened Monday afternoon

A man was killed doing demolition work inside a Corsicana building Monday.

The man, who was in his 50s, was there with his adult daughter and his wife were doing work inside a building on 18th Street and Eighth Avenue when hit one piece of plywood between a couple of remaining two-by-fours and the structure fell straight down, killing him instantly, police said.

"There was a structure being demolished, maybe a small house, it was long and narrow, like a shot-gun house," said Corsicana Chief of Police Robert Johnson.

The daughter was able to escape the building with only minor injuries and remained at the scene until her father was pulled from the debris, according to police.

The man's identity has not yet been released.
