Man Dies After Found Unresponsive in Irving Jail: Police

The Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office will determine how a man died while in custody at the Irving Jail Monday.

Jail staff members found 41-year-old Gabriel Pedro Gonzales unresponsive in his cell just after 8 a.m. and immediately began resuscitation efforts, according to a statement from Irving police.

Gonzalez was transported to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center at Irving, where he was pronounced dead at about 9:13 a.m., police said.

Gonzalez had been in jail since his arrest Saturday morning on four misdemeanor warrants from Dallas and Grand Prairie.

Police said there were no obvious signs of trauma that could have indicated a cause of his death, and they said an investigation into the death continues.
