Authorities said a 58-year-old man has died after two boats collided during a Lake Conroe bass fishing tournament in Montgomery County.
According to Capt. Rusty Fincher with the Montgomery County Precinct 1 Constable's Office, Michael Wayne Conaway died shortly after authorities arrived on the scene north of the Farm-to-Market Road 1097 bridge Saturday. The driver of the other boat was not injured.
Fincher said the boats appeared to be travelling as fast as 45 mph when they collided at about 7:50 a.m. According to Fincher, the drivers of the two boats did not think that the other would yield before the crash occurred.
The collision remains under investigation.
