Rising country music star SaraBeth (Sarah Elizabeth Swagerty) can't wait to get home to North Texas.
She was on a plane, leaving D/FW Airport when a deadly tornado touched down in her hometown of Garland.
"I started getting more and more Facebook notifications of people posting pictures, " she said. "It was very surreal."
By the time SaraBeth landed in Phoenix, the news was getting worse.
"You see even more pictures and you see people's pets are missing and people passed away. It was horrible," she added.
SaraBeth will headline a benefit concert this Sunday, January 10 from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Granville Performing Arts Center in Garland.
NBC 5 News anchor Kris Gutierrez will emcee the event.

It's free to attend, but all donations will go directly to the Salvation Army's tornado relief efforts.
SaraBeth has friends who's childhood homes were impacted by the storm.
"You see natural disasters all the time, but whenever they're actually in your hometown and that's where you grew up, it's a totally different thing," she said. "It hits you a lot harder."
