Houston Man Sentenced for $3.4 Million Fraud Scheme

A 43-year-old Houston man has been sentenced to six years in federal prison after pleading guilty to embezzling more than $3.4 million from a Dallas-based design and construction company.

Charles Williams of Los Angeles was a construction manager for a Le Meridien Hotel project in downtown Houston in 2016 and 2017.

He admitted to conspiring with six people to commit wire fraud and money laundering by stealing millions from The Beck Group by approving and submitting invoices for payment for construction products that weren't provided and services that weren't performed.

Williams was the first of the seven to be sentenced. All have entered guilty pleas.
