Former Pantex Credit Union Employee Faces Prison for Theft

A former employee with the credit union of the Pantex nuclear weapons plant in Texas faces up to 30 years in prison for stealing $826,000.

Dorothy Stegall Barnes pleaded guilty Tuesday to embezzling from a federally insured credit union.

The 56-year-old Barnes, who's also known as Dorothy Stegall Newman, could be fined $1 million when she's sentenced later this year in Amarillo.

Barnes formerly was the assistant vice president of teller operations at the Pantex Federal Credit Union. Prosecutors say the theft began in 1996 and continued through 2010.
