Fellow Armed Robber with Ex-A&M Standout Also Gets Prison

A fellow armed robber who helped Texas A&M all-time leading rusher Darren Lewis hold up Dallas-area businesses is also going to federal prison.

Christopher Washington was sentenced Thursday to 25 years behind bars.

Investigators say Washington and Lewis during 2012 and 2013 robbed two hotels and a convenience store.

Washington last August pleaded guilty to interference with commerce by robbery and to brandishing a firearm during a violent crime. Lewis pleaded guilty to the same counts and in September was sentenced to 27 years in prison.

Lewis, who was known as "Tank," rushed for 5,012 yards while at Texas A&M from 1987-1990. He led the Aggies in rushing for three straight seasons and was drafted in 1991 by the Chicago Bears.
