Downtown San Antonio March Honors Slain Police Detective

Hundreds of people have marched silently through downtown San Antonio to honor a slain police detective.

Mourners gathered Wednesday night to walk about a mile from the Alamo to San Antonio police headquarters to remember Det. Benjamin Marconi. The 50-year-old Marconi was shot to death Sunday as he sat in his patrol car writing a traffic ticket.

One of the marchers, Shavawn Brozovic, says the shooting brought back memories of the shooting death 28 years ago of her father, also a San Antonio police officer.

A 31-year-old man upset about a custody dispute has been arrested for Marconi's death. Otis Tyrone McKane apologized during an exchange with reporters as he was being led Monday to the Bexar County jail. He's charged with capital murder.
