Door Falls on Child, Accident: Police

A child has been air-transported by CareFlite to Cook Children's Medical Center after a door fell on her, according to Fort Worth police.

The Fort Worth Fire Department arrived at 14100 block of Cochise Drive around 3:00 p.m. on Saturday to respond to a call regarding a heavy door on top of a child.

Fort Worth police confirmed to NBC 5 that the child was playing on or by a heavy door when it somehow became unhinged and fell on top of her, causing a severe head injury.  It was because of the injury that she was taken by CareFlite to Cook Childrens.

At this time, the cause of the door to fall, and what type of door to fall, are not yet known.

Officials say they are investigating this case as an accidental injury.

It is unknown if anyone else was home with the young girl at the time of the accident. The identity of the girl has not been released to the media.

NBC 5 will update this story as we learn more.
