"HUFFERS" STEALING FREON FROM AIR CONDITIONERS
An air-conditioning repairman says he worked on several units in the Arlington area that have been hit by Freon thieves. The thieves are putting the gas in paper bags or balloons and then breathing it to get high, he said. Homeowners can keep "huffers" out of their AC unit with a $40 lock. COUPLE INDICTED IN STARVATION CASE
A grand jury in Dallas has indicted a couple accused of starving the woman's three children and locking them in a hotel bathroom for at least nine months. Abneris Santiago, 30, was indicted Wednesday on three charges of injury to a child, a first degree-felony. Each count is punishable by at least five years in prison. Her boyfriend, Alfred Santiago, 37, was also charged with three counts of injury to a child as well as a charge of continuous sexual abuse, which carries a minimum 25-year sentence. Police found the 11-year-old girl and her 10- and 5-year-old half-brothers in July.
2-YEAR-OLD DROWNS IN NEIGHBOR'S POOL
Dallas police said a 2-year-old boy drowned in a neighbor's pool Tuesday night. Investigators said Jacob Boykin was reported missing from his home in the 7300 block of Blue Sage Drive at about 8:45 p.m. The boy was found in the neighbor's pool a few minutes later. Police said the boy wandered off while his grandparents were caring for him. Paramedics took the boy to a local hospital, where he died.

POLICE: PREVIOUS CUSTOMER TRIED ROBBING BANK
Weatherford police have arrested a 48-year-old South Carolina man in connection with an attempted back robbery. John Christopher Boyd is accused of trying to rob the First Convenience Bank inside the Walmart in the 1800 block of South Main Street. Another employee overheard him demand money from a teller and picked up the phone to call police, investigators said. Police said Boyd said, "April Fool's," and walked out of the bank when he saw the employee pick up the phone. Police said the bank employees recognized Boyd as a previous customer who had recently opened an account. Police arrested Boyd a short time later at a nearby hotel on Interstate 20.
3 ARRESTED ON DRUG CHARGES IN WEATHERFORD HOTEL
Police arrested three men on drug charges in a Weatherford hotel room Tuesday night. Investigators said officers were called to the Holiday Inn Express on Interstate 20 for suspicious activity. Police said they found about half a pound of marijuana, 48 tabs of Xanax, an AK-47 assault rifle and $591 in cash in a room. Police arrested Shaylon Pickett, 24, of Weatherford, on suspicion of manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana. Two men who arrived at the room during the investigation were also arrested, police said. Amos Phelps, 17, of Weatherford, and Antoine Washington, 18, of New Orleans, have been charged with possession of marijuana.
