IRVING ISD HIT WITH IDENTITY THEFT
Irving Independent School District officials are trying to determine how the personal information of more than 50 people linked to the district was stolen. Current and former employees and their relatives are among the ID theft victims. 3 TEENS ACCUSED OF FIRING GUN NEAR SCHOOL ARRESTED
Police arrested three teenagers in connection with the firing of a handgun Tuesday near Stevens Park Elementary in Dallas. Police said a man picking up his son at school, saw a group of teenage boys fighting before one of the teens pulled out a gun and fired a round into the air. The father tackled the gunman, but after a short scuffle, the teenagers ran away. They were arrested at about 5 p.m. in the 1300 block of Hartsdale after an officer recognized their getaway vehicle.

TEEN FOUND DEAD IN CAR BEHIND STRIP MALL
A Fort Worth teenager was killed overnight in what appears to be a one-car crash behind a strip mall, police said. The car crashed into a light pole behind the shops in the 8600 block of North Beach Street. The body of a 15-year old boy was found inside the vehicle. The teenager's mother had reported the rented Toyota Prius stolen just hours before. The cause of death is unknown, but foul play is not suspected, police said.

DALLAS MOTHER ACCUSED OF NEGLECT IN CHILD'S DEATH
Dallas police arrested Tuesday a mother accused of neglect in the death of her 9-year-old daughter, the Dallas Morning News reports. Chasity Butler died last May from complications of diabetes. Investigators said Georgia Lee Jones, 27, failed to help her daughter manage the disease.  She has been charged with injury to a child. Jones has four other children. ARREST MADE IN SHERLOCK HOLMES' MURDER CASE
Plano detectives have made an arrest in connection with the beating death of 68-year-old Sherlock Holmes. Holmes, of Plano, was found dead inside the house he lived in for more than 50 years Ronald Steven Davis, 47, was arrested Tuesday and charged with murder. He's being held on a $100,000 bond.  Plano police said they are also looking to question other suspects.

MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO SEXUAL ABUSE OF 2-YEAR-OLD
A 26-year-old man pleaded guilty Wednesday morning to sexually assaulting a 23-month-old baby, the Dallas Morning News reports. Santos Rivera could face life in prison. Testimony in the punishment phase of his trial is now under way. Prosecutors say DNA connected Mr. Rivera, who sometimes baby-sat for the baby, to the crime.  Click here to read this story from the Dallas Morning News.

POLICE: ARLINGTON SHOOTINGS APPEAR TO BE RANDOM
Evidence suggests that the two men who were shot in separate incidents Monday in far east Arlington were randomly targeted, the Star Telegram reports.  The two drivers were headed in opposite directions about 2 p.m. in the 2800 block of East Arkansas Lane, along the border with Grand Prairie, when they were slightly injured by shots fired from a small-caliber weapon, police reported.  Click here to read this story from the Star-Telegram.

NEIGHBOR ACCUSED OF STEALING CANCER PATIENT'S IDENTITY
Police say the person who offered to help a Mansfield woman through the battle of a lifetime instead stole her identity -- and tens of thousands of dollars. Mansfield police arrested Janice Gast on Monday on charges of identity theft. Jody Short said Gast stole in excess of $25,000 from her while Short was going through chemotherapy and radiation.
