CONCACAF Women's Qualifying Set for February in Texas

The World Cup-champion U.S. women's national team will get home-country advantage early next year in the bid for a spot in the Rio Olympics.

CONCACAF, the governing body of soccer in North and Central America and the Caribbean, announced Wednesday that its Olympic qualifying would be held Feb. 10-21 in Frisco and Houston.

Eight teams, including the United States, Mexico and Canada, will be divided into two groups for matches at BBVA Compass Stadium, home to both the Houston Dynamo and the Houston Dash, and Toyota Stadium in Frisco.

The top two finishers earn a spot in the 2016 Olympics in Brazil.

In a press release Wednesday, MLS club FC Dallas said the United States will be in Group A and will play all of its group matches in Frisco.

The United States, which won the World Cup this summer in Canada, has won the gold medal at the past three Olympic games.
