Army Vet Receives New Home in North Richland Hills

While serving in the Army, Staff Sgt. Jeremiah Busby was in situations that nearly took his life. Wednesday, his life headed in another direction when he got to walk into his newly paid for home in North Richland Hills.

β€œIt’s amazing,” said Busby. β€œI don't know how to express it.”

It has been a long journey for Busby and his family to get to a place they can call their own home.

β€œJust looking around on the drive in here, I was like, 'Wow, I’ve never lived in a neighborhood like this,'” said Busby. β€œI’m just extremely happy.”

Things haven't always been so happy for Busby.

An explosive device nearly killed him while on tour in Iraq. After getting medically discharged in 2010, Busby said he and his wife were living paycheck to paycheck.

He said owning their own home was only a dream. But, that dream became real through the Military Warriors Foundation and Wells Fargo.

β€œI've never known this much kindness before,” said Busby.

Busby walked through his new, completely paid for home in North Richland Hills for the first time Wednesday.

He said it is a place where his two daughters can play freely in the backyard and he does not have to worry too much about their safety.

β€œIt's a good feeling,” said Busby. β€œI haven't known very many good feelings in a long time.”
