Army Hospital Lockdown Lifted in Texas Amid Report of Armed Man

Officials at William Beaumont Army Medical Center near Fort Bliss in Texas says a lockdown issued after a witness reported seeing a man toting two rifles has been lifted.

The all clear was given just before 2:30 p.m. At 3:15 p.m. WBAMC tweeted that the situation had been resolved and that the facility had reopened and the hospital was returning to normal activity.

William Beaumont Army Medical Center spokeswoman Amabilia Payen says the hospital in El Paso was locked down at about noon Friday, when a caller reported seeing a man carrying two rifles and ammunition cans near the first floor courtyard.

She said there had been no reports of gunfire and that during the lockdown no one was allowed into or out of the hospital and law enforcement officers went through the building.

El Paso police didn't immediately return a message seeking details about the investigation.
