Amber Alert

Amber Alert Canceled, Missing Celina Girl Found Unharmed

NBCUniversal, Inc.

The AMBER Alert was born in 1996 when local media teamed up with local police to develop an early warning system to find abducted children following the abduction and brutal murder of 9-year-old Amber Hagerman, of Arlington.

A missing teenage girl from Celina has been found unharmed Thursday afternoon.

An Amber Alert was issued for the 17-year-old girl early Thursday morning after police said she was believed to be in grave or immediate danger.

In a statement on Thursday morning, police said the girl may have left home voluntarily and that they did not believe there was a threat to the community.

Since she has been located unharmed, the girl's image and name have been removed from this story.
