Police said they hope video from a bait vehicle can lead them to the man who stole the pickup truck and crashed it into an Arlington home.

A car thief plowed the vehicle into a home in the 1900 block of Brookshire Court in the early morning of Oct. 10.

Footage from inside the pickup truck shows the thief using his shirt to try to avoid getting fingerprints on the steering wheel. He later gets out of the vehicle and returns with gloves.

After spotting patrol cars behind him, the man makes a sharp turn and nearly falls out of the truck before crashing into the house.

Police had parked the pickup truck a few miles away as part of the Auto Theft Tracking Program. The man crashed into the home minutes after stealing it, police said.

Investigators said it happened so fast that officers did not get a chance to remotely disable the ignition on the truck.
