Texas Retail Gasoline Prices Decrease 2 Cents

Retail gasoline prices in Texas are down 2 cents a gallon this week.

AAA Texas reports the statewide price at the pump has slipped to $3.43 per gallon. That's 21 cents cheaper than the national average of $3.64 per gallon.

Regular unleaded is the least expensive in Amarillo, at $3.32. It's highest in Corpus Christi at $3.44.

The auto club said Thursday gasoline prices have been declining since the beginning of this month. That's typical for this time of year with the conclusion of refinery maintenance leading up to a May 1 deadline to begin producing summer-blend fuel.

Analysts say now that the transition is complete, prices should continue to decline.
