Texas Man Recovers from 2011 Fall in Wyoming

It was just over a year ago when a Texas man slipped and fell 1,200 feet while descending the Middle Teton mountain in northwest Wyoming.

Ryan Haymaker, of Houston, fractured a femur, a patella, his pelvis and three vertebrae, collapsed both lungs and sustained major head trauma. He was in a coma for 18 days.

This autumn, Haymaker is biking, back at school and hoping to snowboard this winter.

Haymaker tells the Jackson Hole News & Guide that he's thankful to be alive and grateful to the many people who helped to save his life.

This autumn he returned to Texas Tech for his junior year. He is studying restaurant and hotel management.

He hopes to be able to come back to Jackson Hole someday.
