Tanker Overturns, Spills Diesel Fuel in Dallas

A tanker truck overturned along Singleton in Dallas early Thursday after the driver slipped on a patch of ice.

The driver of the truck told NBCDFW that he hit a patch of ice, swerved and the truck overturned. When the truck crashed, the diesel fuel the driver was carrying then began to spill into the roadway.

A passerby was the first to assist the driver, who was hanging unharmed by his seatbelt in the cab of the truck.

The driver told NBCDFW's Amanda Fitzpatrick that he was glad to be alive and that he thanks God that the crash wasn't worse.

Firefighters and EMS responders soon arrived and began pouring a product on the fuel to try to keep it from getting into a storm drain.

NBCDFW's Amanda Fitzpatrick contributed to this report.
