Second Man Arrested in Arlington Officer Shooting: Police

Dallas police say a second suspect has been arrested, accused of firing a gun at officers during a task force operation early Thursday that wounded an undercover Arlington police officer.

Victor Solorzano, 30, is now charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of aggravated assault.

On Friday, Dallas police said Edgar Solorzano had been arrested on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, two counts of aggravated assault and illegal barter/expenditure of property/finance.

Dallas police, in a news conference Friday, said Edgar Solorzano was armed with an assault rifle and began firing at the undercover officer after the two had a short verbal exchange in the 2700 block of Wilbur Street. When the firing began, the officer retreated.

Edgar Solorzano followed the officer as he sought cover in an undercover vehicle, police said, and kept firing, striking the officer at least once.

The wounded officer, whose name is not being released because he worked in a covert capacity, was transported to a Dallas hospital; police said he's in good spirits and expected to recover.

Dallas police said the investigation is active and ongoing.
