Student Blocked from Bathroom; Urinates in Bottle

Boy says he was threatened with truancy if he left class

A 12-year-old Houston-area boy who allegedly was barred from leaving class to use the bathroom has gotten into trouble for urinating in a water bottle.

An attorney says the boy's family has appealed the penalty of a month at an alternative campus.

Klein Independent School District officials say protocol must be followed in disciplinary matters and declined further comment.

The Houston Chronicle reported Tuesday that a teacher on Jan. 13 repeatedly denied permission for a restroom break during class.

Attorney Bill Hawkins says the boy, whose name hasn't been released, was threatened with being cited for truancy if he left.

Hawkins says the boy slipped a water bottle into his pants leg, urinated, then placed the bottle in his jacket pocket. The bottle fell out before class ended.
