Mesquite Police Investigate Murder-Suicide

Mesquite police investigated an apparent murder-suicide Saturday night.

Police said they were called for a shooting in the 3600 block of Edgebrook Drive shortly after 8 p.m.

When officers arrived they said they found 32-year-old Dante Woods lying in the living room of the house with a gunshot wound to the chest.

Woods was taken to Baylor Hospital in Dallas where he died from his injury.

Officers searched the property and found 55-year-old Scott High dead in the backyard with a gunshot wound to his chest.

Police said High had a gun on him.

Witnesses told detectives the two men had gotten into an argument that ended with High shooting Woods, then going into the backyard where he shot himself.

High had been staying at the home with his adult daughter and her boyfriend, Woods, according to police.
