Lightning is being blamed for starting a house fire in Plano early Monday.
The fire was first reported at about 1:50 a.m. at a home on the 3400 block of Bright Star Way.
The family said they heard, and felt, the lightning hit the home and then noticed the fire a short time later.
The family was able to escape the home without injury.
Firefighters arrived to find heavy fire coming from the roof and attacked the fire from both the inside and outside.
Damage to the home is considered substantial, though an official damage estimate has not yet been provided.
